Gummy Bears and springy head guy

Aug 23 - Today after a regular Monday morning of playing, Mommy decided to get us out of the house. So we went to get gas in the van and then to go and see Grandmommy. Before we got to Grandma, we stopped off at Rashaad's house. Mommy wanted to pick up some movies and I was tired so I napped while they talked. When I woke up I talked to Rashaad a little. He is a funny guy. Then, we said goodbye and Mommy and I went to see Grandma. We started at the McDonalds, then went to IHOP for lunch. Mommy put me in a highchair like a big boy! I did really, really well. Mommy also gave me a little water from her straw but I made a face cause it was too cold. After IHOP, we went over to KMART where Grandmommy insisted I get a new toy since I was such a good boy. She got me a new bath tub toy that will move in the water and a crawl ball that rolls around by its self and I crawl after it. I am looking forward to playing with those.

Then it was back to get Grandmommy's car so we could all go up to Granddaddy's school and see him. Today was his first day of a new school year. He told me that I was the best part of his day. Grandmommy and Granddaddy pulled out the springy head guy and had me laughing and laughing as we played with him. Then, Granddaddy showed me this Gummy Bear song on the computer and I really liked that. It was funny and made me want to bounce along to the song. We watched a few more videos on the computer and just hung out for a little while until Mommy said we had to get home and start dinner for Daddy. So we said our goodbyes and got back in the van.

I fell asleep on the way home. Mommy gave me a bath and was dressing me when Daddy came home. I was glad cause I didn't want to miss him. I got to play with Daddy a little bit before bed.

Get up, Stand up

Aug 22 - This morning Daddy came and got me from my crib again. I loved seeing him first thing in the morning. He brought me out to the family room to Mommy and we had breakfast. Then we played on the floor. Mommy was laying on the carpet and I crawled over to her and grabbed her shirt and pulled myself up to my feet all by myself! Mommy and Daddy were so impressed and made such a big deal about it so I did it again! Mommy said that I am getting so big.

Then Mommy got all the trash from yesterday's cleaning day into the van and we went to the dump. When we got back, Uncle Sean was here to pick up the old entertainment center. He is taking it back to his house since we don't have room for it anymore. So now we have more room in the living room and the couch will be gone soon too to free up even more space. Uncle Sean hung out for a little while and then came up with the great idea to have Lynn and the kids come over for a cook out after they were done dropping off the entertainment center. So Daddy and Uncle Sean left for a while and I got a nap.

The impromptu cookout was great! Aidan, Gavin, and I had a fantastic time playing together with all my toys. I really just sat and watched what they were doing. Aunt Lynn got to hold me for a little while too. It had been too long since I had seen her. I missed her.

After they all left Mommy and Daddy gave me a long bath. We all played and splashed together. Mommy got me dressed in my sleeper outfit and we played on the carpet for just a little while longer. I used Daddy to stand up this time and when I did I got really excited about it and started to laugh. I'm cute, I know. Very shortly after that it was bedtime. I had a good day.

Mommy needs a time out

Today Daddy came and got me from my crib. It was so nice to see him first thing this morning. He brought me out to the family room to Mommy. After breakfast it was playtime. Mommy and Daddy both played with me and just enjoyed each others company.

After lunch time Mommy and Daddy got to work. They had a plan to go through everything that was in the living room. They had a keep box, a donate box, and a trash box. It took a really long time but they pretty much organized everything. I thought it was pretty boring and wanted Mommy to pay attention to me so every time she put me down I would start to fuss. Mommy and Daddy would trade off from time to time holding me. I would try to grab anything that they were holding so they had to be careful cause I try to get everything in my mouth right now. Mommy did find one thing that I thought was great... the Aflac duck! It screams AFLAC and it made me laugh and laugh. But after hours of holding me Mommy said she needed a time out so she grabbed a bunch of toys and put me in my crib for a little bit. I was good by myself for a few minutes but then wanted Mommy back. She didn't come right away and I got mad! When she did come and get me she told me that she and Daddy were done for the day.
You left me :(

Hold on, I have to sneeze.

Why are you laughing at me?

It was time for me to try my first fruit. Mommy and Daddy decided it should be apples. Mommy got me in my high chair and started with the apples. It was really sweet and I wasn't really expecting that but it was good. I ate the whole container in one sitting. Yum yum.
These are apples?

I like apples!

The rest of the day was just playing and napping. I took a long nap from 5pm-7pm so I didn't want to go to bed til 10:30pm.

Time with CJ and Kenzie

Aug 20 - So after hanging out at home and playing with Mommy a lot, we decided to get out today and visit Aunt Erin, CJ, and Kenzie. So Mommy starting packing the pool bag cause the plan was to go over the Granny Cathy's house where there is a pool. As Mommy was packing the bag and I was hanging out on my bedroom carpet we both got surprised when Daddy came home early. So Daddy played and talked with me for a little bit while Mommy finished getting us ready to go. Then, Mommy gave me the last of my carrots. Tomorrow will be my first fruit.

We said goodbye to Daddy and got it the car. I took a quick nap on the way to Granny Cathy's house. I woke up at the house to CJ reaching in my carseat carrier to say hello. Aunt Erin got me out of my carseat and held me while CJ talked to me. Mommy got Kenzie out of her carseat and talked to her a little bit. Then Kenzie decided she wanted her Mommy so we switched. Mommy got me dressed in my swim trunks and it was time for the water. CJ swam around in his water wings. Kenzie was held by Aunt Erin. Mommy held me. Then Granny Cathy gave me a floaty device. It was kinda fun, I liked to splash around in it, but I am still too little to be in it without Mommy holding me up in it. But we had the best time. I got to splashing a lot and really thought it was funny when CJ said he wanted to be a baby too and got in the floaty device that I was in. He pretended to cry and I just watched him act silly.

CHEESE!!!

When it was time to get out of the water I just enjoyed sitting with Mommy and listening to her, Grandmommy, Granny Cathy, and Aunt Erin talk. We didn't leave until 7:30pm! We said our goodbyes and Mommy and I talked the whole way home. Once we got home I ate and then crashed! I hardly had much sleep today so I needed to catch up.

Shape sorter sure is fun

Aug 19 - This morning Mommy and I played around for a while and then got ready to go to the grocery store. Mommy took me in my carseat carrier again. People think that is so funny cause I have my little toes in the air since the seat leans back. I was really good in the store, like always, even when Mommy had a little issue with the cashier and had to do a refund. But Mommy got me something that made it all better. She got me a new toy! It is so much fun. It is this bucket with all these colorful shape pieces that fit into the top of the bucket. I even loved the box it came in. When we got home I played with it for hours! Mommy would hand me a piece, I would take it, then she would hand me another piece and I would take that one. I would bang them, I would bite them, and I loved the yellow lid of the container. Mommy later showed me how to fill the bucket with the pieces and then dump them all out. That made me laugh. What a great toy!

I ate some more carrots today. I finished the container I had open and as Mommy tried to get the new container open and ready I got a hold of it. I knocked over the container and spilled some carrots on my high chair tray. So Mommy let me play in it for a little while. I also tried the Gerber Puffs today. I put one in my mouth but it made me choke a little so Mommy said we are going to wait on those for a little while longer.

I also played with my drum and today I put both hands on it and used it to lift my body off the ground. I did that in front of Daddy and boy, did he get excited. He said that one day Mommy is going to come and get me from my crib and I will surprise her by standing there. Then I crawled over to him and pulled on his shirt and beard to get me to my knees. He said, "Ouch." Hehe.

Mommy gave me a bath and we played for a while in the tub. I was chewing on my duck and started to lean over and got a little water up my nose. I didn't like that but Mommy told me I would be ok. I didn't cry, I just kept chewing on my duck.

After the bath, Mommy got me dressed for bed. I was sleep in my crib by 9pm.

Laundry helper

Aug 18 - This morning I was Mommy's little helper. Mommy had some laundry to put away so I helped by watching a couple of clothes to make sure they didn't get lost. I actually enjoyed myself cause I was in a different room with whole new surroundings. I also had the doggies to keep me company. I also found one of the doggie's bones on the floor and thought it was really cool but Mommy took it away from me and told me it wasn't for me.
Then we got ready for the dump and group. We got to the hospital and saw a bunch of my friends: Eleanor, James, Lincoln, and Aidan. I crawled all over the room trying out everyone else's blanket. I like all the different colors and textures. Everyone made a big deal about me crawling now. They were so impressed. One of the new mom's to the group has a 7 mo old but he is much bigger than me. His name is AJ. He isn't moving yet and his mom said maybe I could teach him. When I got weighed I was 15lbs 2.2oz.

When we got home it was time for carrots. I ate my carrots like a good boy. After I finished eating Mommy gave me a plastic spoon and a few toys to play with in my high chair. I had a good time banging my spoon and talking while Mommy cooked dinner.

I stayed awake for Daddy and after he took a quick shower he played with me on the floor for a few minutes. We were playing around and I crawled over to Mommy and used her to get up on my knees while holding her leg. Daddy and Mommy looked at each other and said "uh-oh". Now I have a new goal...standing.

The day after shots is not fun

Aug 17 - Today was not my favorite day. Since I got shots yesterday I didn't feel like myself today. Mommy and Grandmommy had made a plan for Grandmommy to come over today and hang out with me while Mommy did some stuff around the house but guess who had a different plan...ME. I made it really difficult cause all I wanted was Mommy. I am usually so great with Grandmommy but I would cry and cry if Mommy left the room or even handed me off. I hope I didn't hurt Grandmommy's feelings too much.

A little later when I was getting really fussy Mommy put on the music channel and danced and sang to me. I just love Mommy. She is so good to me.

Grandmommy got me to sleep in the swing for a little while. She talked softly to me and pushed the swing. Then she started to close her eyes and I realized how tired I was.

I finished my container of carrots from yesterday and started the next container but didn't eat that much.

Daddy got home early and took a nap. He was pretty wiped out from his first long day of going back to school. When he woke up we played while Mommy got some of the stuff she need to do done. I was much better for Daddy. We played for a long time and enjoyed each others company. But it was getting late and I was getting hungry so Daddy handed me off to Mommy and this day was finally over. Hopefully tomorrow is better.

6 month checkup

Aug 16 - This morning I was in my crib, playing by myself, and Mommy came in with the doggies. I hadn't even called her yet. But she said that we had to get ready for my doctor's appointment. So we got dressed, ate, and headed out the door.

We got to the doctor's office and as we were walking in Mommy told me to remember that we are doing this not because I was bad or because Mommy was mad at me but because this is what is best for me. I wasn't sure what she meant. The nurses were so nice to me, they always are there. The pretty young nurse led us to the examining room. She got my temperature and I gave her an award winning smile. Then Mommy got me out of my clothes and the nurse weighed and measured me. She said I was 15lbs 4oz and 26 inches long. When they put me up on the exam table I was going crazy for the cool paper lining they have on the table. I gave Mom a look like, "Can we get this stuff at home?"

Before shots
Reading a book in the exam room waiting for the DrAfter shots
Dr. Sharma came in and did a quick exam. She looked down my throat, she pushed on my belly (which made me giggle a little), and she tried to get me to sit up but I wanted to stand. She said everything looked great and I was very healthy. The pretty nurse came back with a sugary medicine. Some of it dribbled out of my mouth because I kept smiling at the pretty nurse. Then the tray came in. Mommy laid me down and held my hands and kissed my forehead while the nurse held my legs. Dr. Sharma gave me three quick shots. I didn't flinch with the first one but I turned red and started to cry with the second and third ones. I didn't cry long though. Mommy held me tight and kissed me and told me it was going to be ok. By the time we got back out to the front for Mommy to make the next appointment I was ok.

We got in the car and went to CVS, Walmart, and McDonalds. I was asleep on the way home. We stayed inside the rest of the day since Mommy didn't want to over do it since I got my shots. We played a lot and napped a lot. Mommy has noticed that I am becoming a little more clingy. I reach for Mommy to pick me up more and cry when she leaves the room and I can't see her anymore.

We went outside to let the dogs out and saw the neighbors. Mr. Dan fixed our push mower and when he started it up the noise scared me and I started to cry. Then Mommy was talking to Ms. Donna and Ms. Donna turned to me and said something and I started to cry again. The doctor did say something about the possibility of going through "stranger anxiety" for the next couple of months. Mommy said that just means that we need to see the neighbors more.

We came back inside and took it easy until Daddy came home. He had his first day of school today so he got home late but I was super happy to see him. I grabbed his beard and giggled with him and we played on the floor with my drum. I really love Daddy and you can tell that I make his day better.

I crashed for the night around 9pm.

Big bathtub for a big boy

Aug 15 - Today was another low key day at home. We decided to just stay in and continue enjoying each others company. We watched some movies, played a lot on the floor, and napped. I let Mommy get the dishes and laundry done cause I kept myself occupied on the floor. I have started to follow Mommy. If she walks out of the room I start to follow but Mommy and Daddy want me to stay on the carpet until I perfect my crawling skills so I don't fall on the tile and hurt myself.

I also finished my peas today so that means tomorrow is a brand new veggie. I get carrots tomorrow.

Today was my first day in the big bath tub. Mommy and Daddy brought my little tub into the big bath tub because I have learned to splash and I can get a little messy. I had a good time and played with my red tugboat, rubber duck, and fish for a while. Daddy even used the removable shower head to rinse off my head.

After bath time Mommy got me ready for bed. Mommy and I have been doing this thing every night where we say goodnight to all the animals on my comforter in my room. We start with the lion and say "goodnight Lion" and we pet him. Then we move over to the zebra and say, "goodnight Zebra" and pet him. Then to the monkey and then the elephant and then to the giraffe. Every animal has a different feel and I like it. I have gotten so used to it I know the order we say good night and look over at the next animal before we move over to it. Mommy has to lift me in the air to touch the monkey, elephant, and giraffe which I think is fun.

I fell asleep around 8:30pm and Mommy and I didn't have a battle tonight. I guess I was just too tired to fight.

Just the three of us

Aug 14 - So today was an inside day but it was by no means a lazy day. I worked out hard! I crawled and pushed up and scooted for hours and hours. Daddy, Mommy, and I just enjoyed being together. No need to go anywhere or do anything when we have each other.

During lunchtime, Mommy tried to give me my peas and I was not having it today. I just wasn't in the mood. Mommy didn't try to force it cause she said she wouldn't want to eat them either.

The only other thing of note today was that Daddy got a call from his friend Randy and found out that they were going to have a baby. Yup, another friend for me. The baby is due Feb 25th.

When it was time to go to sleep I did the same thing I did yesterday. I took a nap instead of going to sleep for the night. I woke up around 8:30pm and stayed up until 10:00 when Mommy said enough was enough. She put me in my crib and told me it was bed time. I didn't want to go to sleep yet and was really sad that she left me. I was sad for about a half an hour until I conceded and went to sleep. Bed time has become war.

Happy Daddy-Comes-Home Day!

Aug 13 - Yay! The long week with out Daddy has ended. We knew that Daddy's flight was going to be landing at 3:40pm so Mommy had everything we needed to do planned out perfectly. We hung out at the house in the morning where I finally did it...I CRAWLED!!! I crawled for Mommy and boy, oh boy, was she happy. We played and napped and just enjoyed the morning. Around noon we got out of the house and went grocery shopping since Mommy and I were supposed to go two days ago.

While we were grocery shopping I saw all kinds of people. Everyone is so nice to me, always making me smile and telling me how cute I am. We got through the grocery store and back in the car and I was out like a light. So Mommy got all the groceries inside while I slept in the car. Once the groceries were away she got back in the car and we were off to the airport. I slept pretty much the whole way. We got there with enough time for me to eat in the car and then to find a bathroom to get me changed. Then we stood at the end of the terminal and waited for Daddy. He was the first one out of the terminal. Guess he was rushing to see me. He gave Mommy a kiss and then grabbed me and kissed me and hugged me tight. I was so happy to see him. I also got to meet a couple of Daddy's friends. We got his baggage and headed to the car. I was so excited I talked most of the way home.

Once we got home Mommy put me on the carpet and told me to show Daddy what I can do. So I crawled a little for him. He didn't know that I could do that cause Mommy wanted me to tell him. He was happy. Then I sat up on my own and he was so impressed. Mommy had told him that I did that one but he said it was different to actually see it. Very cool. This led to the conversation about Nicky-proofing. We played on the carpet for a long long time! We even got some guy time cause Mommy cooked dinner so it was just me and Dad. The rest of the day was just the three of us and we had a great time. I was having such a great time that I didn't want to go to sleep. I started to but it turned into a nap. I stayed up til about 10:30 or so. Mommy wasn't thrilled but oh well, I told her I would get her back.

Visiting Day

This morning we all woke up to a massive thunderstorm. Mommy and I looked out the window together and even though it was 8am it looked like it was nighttime. The rain was coming down hard and the wind was strong. I wasn't scared cause Mommy told me there was nothing to be scared of.

After playing around on the floor with Mommy for a while we started to think about what we were going to do today. So Mommy called Granddaddy and Grandmommy and worked out meeting them at Granddaddy's school. So we got dressed and were on our way. When we got there I told both of them how much I missed them with big hugs, smiles, and giggles. Mommy set up the blanket on the floor so I could show them how I can sit up on my own like a big boy. Grandmommy and I also played with the springy head guy again and, Man, was that fun! I laughed so hard. We had a great visit. I watched Granddaddy put up all the educational decorations on his walls of this classroom. Then Granddaddy and Grandmommy sat with me on the floor and played. And after all that I was really really worn out so Mommy decided I had enough and packed me up. We said our goodbyes and I tried to tell Granddaddy not to be sad that I am leaving cause I will see him again soon. I fell asleep on the way home.

When I woke up we were at Grandma and Chachi's house. I guess I slept through the stop home to let the doggies out. I sat with Chachi for a little while and fussed a little but did okay. Then Aidan came downstairs and I was all smiles. My cousin Aidan is so funny and makes me smile every time, without fail. I gave hugs to Aunt Lynn while I watched Mommy play soccer with Aidan. I watched Uncle Sean grill sausages on the grill. We went downstairs to the basement to see the almost finished basement. Then I got on the floor and played really well with my toys and with Aidan. Aidan really liked my ABC dog. Grandma played with me while Mommy ate dinner and then it was back to Mommy. I started to tell her that I was about ready to go since I hadn't had much sleep today. So we said our goodbyes and headed home. In the car, Mommy tried to keep me from crying a lot so when I started to cry she would sing a note and it would get me to stop. It was kinda like we were singing together. When we got home, she opened the door and I just smiled at her. She can be so silly sometimes. We got inside, got changed for bed, had a nice big bedtime meal, and it was goodnight, Nicky.

P.S. Daddy comes home tomorrow. YAY!!! I really have missed him.
