My first taste of bread

Sept 17 - Today I woke up early again. Mommy and I had breakfast and then played a little while before I got tired again and took a nap. Then we called Grandmommy. We made plans to meet up at Joann's fabrics in Waldorf. Mommy and I got there first and made our way around the store. When Grandmommy got there she asked me if I know who she is and if I remembered her. Of course, Grandmommy! Mommy, Grandmommy and I went around the store getting a pattern and fabric and other supplies for Mommy because Ms. Denise is going to show her how to sew tomorrow. Mommy picked a really nice pattern of fabric and let me hold it. It was soft.

After Joann's the three of us went over to Target for lunch. Mommy and Grandmommy had pizza hut. Mommy even gave me a teeny tiny piece of bread, I didn't really like it. After lunch, we said our goodbyes to Grandmommy and headed home. I was asleep in the car in no time. Once we got home, Mommy and I napped in the car a little longer.

Then we went inside and hung out a little til Daddy came home. Once he got home I spent a lot of time with him, playing, talking, and eating so Mommy could get a bunch of housework done. Daddy sat me up on the couch and I crawled around and played and he kept me from falling. We had a fantastic time just me and him.

Then it was time for Mommy to play with me. We played more with my Leapfrog bus and I played with the kitties.

I see Church, can you?

Finally it was time for bed and I think that I tired out Mommy and Daddy too.

Big boom!

Sept 16 - Today was a lounge around the house day because Mommy was exhausted. I woke up before 5:30am this morning. So Mommy and I just did the normal.

Since I am learning to stand up on my own every now and then I take a little spill and bump something. Nothing way too serious usually. If I fall on my butt, Mommy and Daddy say "boom!" But today was a little different. Today was a big boom. I was playing on the fireplace pad like I do everyday and Mommy was right next to me just in case. I turned and started playing on the arm of the couch. Then I lost my balance and fell toward the fireplace and bumped my head. It really hurt and Mommy picked me up and kissed me and told me it would be ok. Then she put a cold pack on my head. She made me feel a lot better but I had a pretty big red bump on my head. :(

When Daddy got home we jumped in the car and went to pick up his car at the shop. Once we got home I got to play with Daddy. I missed him yesterday so it was nice to get some time with him. I also played with my leapfrog bus a little today. It is pretty cool and I like the frogs inside the bus and I love all the colorful letters on the outside of the bus. I hopped from the pack n' play, to the jumper, to the floor until I tired myself out for bed. I was asleep by 8pm.

Aunt Lynn cooks dinner

Sept 15 - I was so tired that I slept until 6:45am! Very nice. Mommy and I did our regular playing in the morning and I crashed again around 11:30. I slept until a little before 1pm! That is usually when we leave for group so Mommy had to rush really quickly to get everything together so we could get to group on time. We were a little late but we made it.

At group, I weighed in at 16lbs 0.4oz. It was really crowded with a bunch of new people and a bunch of strollers so Mommy didn't put me down on the floor for a while. I just watched everyone from her lap. But I got to see my usually friends - Eleanor, Nathan, and Lincoln. When some of the new people started to leave Mommy let me get on the floor. I crawled from blanket to blanket and just enjoyed myself. I am getting a little too curious about some of the smaller babies though. I try to reach out and touch their heads and Mommy keeps pulling me away. I don't really understand why since I am just trying to make friends and play.

After group Mommy and I went over to Grandma and Chachi's for dinner. I had a quick visit with Chachi. Then went downstairs to see the new basement and play with Aunt Lynn, Aidan, and Gavin. After a while, we went upstairs and as Aunt Lynn cooked dinner Mommy crawled around the floor with me. I had a good time standing at the door banging on the window while everyone Chachi, Aunt Lynn, Uncle Sean, and the kids ate dinner. Then Aunt Lynn held me so Mommy could eat. After she was done, I told Mommy how tired I was. I hadn't gotten my last nap of the day. So we made a plate for Daddy and headed home. I told Mommy how tired I was on the car ride home. She got me home, inside, changed, dressed for bed, and fed and I was in bed at 8:15pm.

Story time

Sept 14 - I woke up at about 5:30am. Mommy and I just went out to the family room and started our day early. I played and ate and then Mommy got me dressed because today was the first day of story time at the Prince Frederick library. So we got in the car and headed to story time. When we got there we saw a bunch of kids ranging in age from a few months old to almost 2 years old. Spike and AJ were there too. I know them from group. There are two librarians leading the group and we sang songs and played with egg shakers and read stories. It was fun. I also crawled around the room, the librarians said they didn't mind. Story time is only 20 mins so after that Mommy and I stayed in the kids section of the library where they have the coolest busy box ever! I stood up on it and played with it for a while. Sam and Ms. Erin got there around that time (they were late for story time because Sam was napping). I also met a new friend, Noah. And I also played with an older kid on the boat they have in the kids section. After all that playing, I told Mommy that I was getting tired and that it was already past my nap time so we packed up and headed home.

We stopped at Subway to get Mommy some food. While we were there we saw a Maryland State Trooper. I kept staring at him. I really liked his hat! He smiled at us.

We got home and I got a nap and then played some more and then napped some more and then Daddy got home. I was so happy to see Daddy. We played together while Mommy left to run some errands. Daddy put me up on the couch and let me crawl around up there. I was standing on the back of the couch and sat on Apollo. He also took me into his room and let me play with the big mirror they have in there. And we played peek-a-boo in the pack n' play. When Mommy got home, she was shocked to find that I didn't take my third nap since I was too busy playing with Daddy. She saw how tired I was and put me down for a nap but I was so tired that I was down for the night. It was only 6:30pm! Oh well, when you are tired, you are tired.

Such a happy boy

Last night I woke up around 12:30am. I wanted Mommy. She came in, changed me, nursed me back to sleep but I woke up as soon as she put me back in my crib. I started screaming again. Mommy couldn't figure it out. She gave me a pacifier which helped a little but I kept screaming. She told me it wasn't time to be awake and that she couldn't pick me back up because she didn't want me to get the wrong idea. She told me to go to sleep and said goodnight and left the room. I cried for a while but she didn't come back. I went back to sleep on my own.

I woke up around 7:45am this morning. Mommy was happy about that. She found me in the crib with my pacifier. Mommy let me keep the pacifier today. I used it on and off all day.
Today was a good Nicky day. I was just in a great mood and very happy. I played with all my toys. I let Mommy wash the dishes while I watched her from my exersaucer.
I spent a lot of time in the pack n' play where I practiced standing up. I also practiced standing on my toy box, on the baby gate, on the fire place, and for the first time, I pulled myself up on the couch so I could pet Apollo. I really tested my limits today because I would stand and then let go to see if I could keep standing. Mommy would lightly hold the back of my shirt so I was still safe but I have a new goal in mind, and you know how I am about reaching my goals.
I SEE YOU!
LOOK MA, ONE HAND!
I FOUND APOLLO!
Even though I took three good naps today (and am back on a steady schedule of three naps a day) I was tired and ready for bed a little after 7pm. That means I didn't see Daddy today, but I should tomorrow. Good night.

Are you ready for some football?

Sept 12 - Today we stayed home and just hung out. It was nice to spend a day with Mommy and Daddy and not have to go anywhere or do anything. We just played and enjoyed each others company. Daddy told me my legs were getting so strong because I kicked him good. I took turns playing in the exersaucer, the jumper, the pack n' play and on the floor. I also really like climbing the fireplace hearth but will only do it when Mommy or Daddy is there with me. I almost fell off of it because I didn't know I was so close to the edge but Mommy caught me. I had peaches for lunch. They are really sweet. I like them but I don't eat way too much at one time. Mommy has been giving me Puffs. I like those. I have been practicing my "pincher grasp," trying to pick them up and put them in my mouth.

The only other thing of note today was that it was the start of the Redskin's season! Mommy got me all dressed in Redskin gear and gave me a tiny football to play with. I didn't make it to actually see the Redskins game because it started around bedtime, but I did get to watch some football. I think I will like football.

Goodbye neighbor

Sept 11 - I actually got a full night sleep last night! This morning Mommy and I hung out til about 11:30am. Then it was time to get ready to go to Mr. Dan's memorial service. Daddy worked today so he couldn't come with us. Since Mr. Dan was a biker the funeral home parking lot was packed with motorcycles. There were so many people there and all of them had such nice things to says about Mr. Dan. I really liked the guy standing next to us during the service, he was a biker too, and I just stared at him and smiled the whole time. I was really good during the service and just drank my bottle. After the service, all the motorcycles led the way to the American Legion where they were having the reception. Some of Ms. Donna's relatives sat with us and one of them was really nice to hold me so Mommy could get a bite to eat. We left there at 2:15 because I was getting tired and it was almost time to meet up with Grandmommy and Granddaddy.

I slept in the car but woke up when Grandmommy and Granddaddy got in the car. The four of us headed to the Bowie ice rink for CJ's birthday party. When we got there I said hi to Uncle Dave and saw Kenzie. Granddaddy and I played with the giant Dora and Diego balloons; I loved that! I just laughed and laughed as I bumped them with my head. I also played a little with a small yellow balloon on the floor, crawling after it. And I even got my own toy to take home, a yellow ball. It was a good time but it had turned out to be a long day so we dropped Granddaddy and Grandmommy back off at their car and went home. I got to spend a little time with Daddy during bath time. Then it was time for me to crash.

Mommy gets a new look

Sept 10 - Last night was not a fun night! Did you know that after I am asleep in my crib for a while and before Daddy goes to sleep that he comes in my room and checks on me? Well, I found out last night. I know, it sounds nice, and he usually does it very quietly as to not wake me but last night when he opened the door it made a sound that woke me up. I was very unhappy to be woken up since I haven't been sleeping all that great recently. Daddy came in and tried to comfort me. I cried and cried. I was exhausted and just wanted to go back to sleep but Daddy couldn't calm me. After almost an hour of constant crying he decided to try just putting me back in the crib and maybe I would cry myself to sleep. I continued to scream for about another 15 mins or so until Mommy came to the rescue. She got me calm, asleep and back in the crib within a half an hour but by then it was already after midnight!

Today Mommy and I spent the day inside until Daddy came got. Mommy and I played and did our normal thing. I am standing a lot more. I spent some time standing at the fireplace banging on the metal grate. It makes a lot of noise! I spent a little time in the pack n' play and the jumper. I am getting a lot better about spending time to my self and entertaining myself as long as Mommy is in the room. If I am on the floor and she walks out of the room, I crawl after her. I come with her everywhere (even the bathroom) and if she leaves me, I get mad.

Once Daddy got home he told me he was sorry about the night before. I forgave him. We played for a while and even got to have some one-on-one guy time as Mommy left for a little while to go get a haircut. When Mommy came home she grabbed me really quick so we could go meet Eleanor, Ms. Denise and Mr. Bryan down at the beach. I got a bit fussy because it was getting close to my bedtime. Mommy and I got home, got changed for bed, and it was lights out at 8:15pm.

Why can't I bite the cat?

Woke up at 6am this morning. Mommy came and got me. Told me that I was crying in my sleep again around 4am. She told me that everything was fine but she was still really tired so she brought me back to bed with her. We both went back to sleep really quickly. We woke back up at about 7:30am. Mommy said that was more like it.

Today we stayed home. Mommy thought about going to Rashaad's house for a visit but decided she was just too worn out to get dressed. I wear her out with all my crawling around.

Well let's see, what did I do today...

I chased Salem, caught his tail, and tried to chew on it. Mommy told me, "NO!"

I climbed the hearth pad and stood up on the fireplace grate and banged for a while. I liked the sound it made. I drank a bottle in my pack n' play while Mommy baked a cake. I spent some time in my exersaucer, which Mommy might have to raise to the next setting already. I am getting big. And just played with all my toys.

Overall, I was happy today. I took some really good naps. I played with Daddy for a while so Mommy could post pictures of me on Facebook and then cook dinner. Grandma came to visit for a few minutes. I showed her how fast I am at crawling now and how I stand up on everything.
I was really tired at about 5:30pm but since we have had a little trouble recently waking up during the night Mommy made me stay awake for a while. I was starting to get a little fussy around 6:30pm but Mommy fixed it. Mommy saw that Momma Mia was on tv and she knows I like the music so she held me and danced with me until the movie ended at 7:15pm.

Then she got me changed for bed. I said my goodnights to the animals on my comforter and came out to the family room with Mommy to get my last meal of the night and fall asleep. I was alseep in no time and was in the crib at 8:15pm.

Waking up at 4am?!?

I did not get the blissful night sleep that I usually get. At about 3am I started to make a lot of noise in my sleep. I guess I was dreaming. At 4am I woke up crying. I haven't done that in a while. Mommy came in my room and held me for a little while, then changed my diaper in case that was the problem (it wasn't), and then tried to nurse me back to sleep. I was too awake and too interested in my little green elephant night light to go back to sleep. After Mommy tried for a while with no luck, she tried a change of scenery. She took me into her room where it is dark and we can both lay down. After a little struggle, she finally got me back to sleep and we slept for about another two hours or so.

We got up and started to get going with our day. We had breakfast and Mommy got a little house work done. I played nicely for a while and then followed Mommy around for a while. Ms. Bridget came today too. She said that I was getting really big and that I would be running around here in no time.

Today was also group day. I weighed in at 15lbs 10.4 oz. That means I gained half a pound since last week! WOW. Mommy spent pretty much all of group chasing me around the room telling me not to touch certain things (i.e. stroller wheels, people's shoes) or to get off other people's blankets or to stay out of other people's diaper bags or to not touch the other babies faces. She doesn't let me do anything. Somehow I still managed to have a good time visiting with James and Nathan. After group I slept in the car til we got to Giant. Mommy needed to grab just a few things. I was good for her. Then we ran into WalMart to get a few new rugs for the kitchen. Again, I was good. We got home and spent a little time with Daddy. I played in my exersaucer while Mommy and Daddy ate dinner. Then it was bathtime and then bed time. I hope I get a whole night slept tonight and I know that Mommy is hoping so too.

Hide and seek

Today was pretty cool. Grandmommy came to visit. I always have fun when Grandmommy is around. I showed off for her letting her know how easily I pull my self up on everything. I climbed the fireplace hearth and crawled back down again. I played with her on the floor and was really good for her as she held me while Mommy washed the dishes. I thought it was funny when I hit Grandmommy with Duckie and made him quack.

I needed to take a nap so Mommy put me in my crib. I wasn't very happy with that part but after a while I finally fell asleep. When I woke up, I really wanted Mommy so she held me for a while and Grandmommy helped fold clothes. Then Daddy came. I said hi to him and we finished putting all the clothes away as Daddy showered. Grandmommy left shortly after that. I started to play around on the floor and discovered a new way to play with my jumper. I can hide under it.
We called Granddaddy real quick to wish him a happy birthday (today is the real day). He was really glad that he got to spend time with us this past weekend and is looking forward to spending more time with us this weekend at CJ's birthday party. Then Mommy and I played in the pack n' play. Mommy is on the outside and I am on the inside and me put our faces against the mesh. It makes me laugh. I also pulled myself up in the pack n' play and tried to lift myself up a little. I am strong. Shortly after that, it was time for bed.

On a sad note, Ms. Donna came over today to share some really sad news. Her husband, Mr. Dan, passed away from a heart attack. Mr. Dan was really nice and we had a good time during our outing at the pool.

Uh-huh, its Daddy's holiday

Sept 6 - Today was not the best day ever. We woke up at 6am! Mommy and I came out to the couch and played for a while. Daddy slept in which is nice since Labor Day is his holiday. When he woke up, he made breakfast. Then it was time to just relax and enjoy doing nothing. But I didn't want to do nothing. I am a growing, moving, excited little boy that likes to do things, go places, and see people. We did nothing today and so I let Mommy and Daddy hear about it. I would play for a little while but I did a lot of fussing too. I might have been a little tired cause I wasn't sitting up and crawling as well as I usually do. In fact, I fell over a bunch of times today. One time, I was trying to stand up using my toy box and I fell over. I bumped my head and Daddy picked me up to soothe me. I was crying and really wanted Mommy. Mommy walked over to me, looked at me and asked, "Are you ok?" I answered, "Uh-huh." And then Mommy and Daddy started to laugh at me. I didn't understand why they were laughing at me.

Daddy gave me a nice bath and Mommy got me ready for bed. But I didn't want to go to bed. So I gave Mommy a hard time for a while. I was pushing the limits and when she would tell me it was time to go to sleep I would just smile at her. Finally, Mommy pulled rank and told me that enough was enough, Mommy and Daddy needed there time together and she and Daddy kissed me goodnight and she placed me in my crib. I DID NOT LIKE THAT! I cried and cried to get her to come back but it was no use. The Mommy had spoken. I finally gave up and went to sleep.

Birthday party for Granddaddy

Sept 5 - This morning when Mommy came to get me out of my crib this is how she found me. Legs through the bars, hands on the rail, just waiting for someone to rescue me. Mommy thought I was cute.

Today was so much fun. We were invited up to Aunt Kati and Uncle Mike's house to celebrate Granddaddy's birthday. Everyone was there - Ryan, Kasey, Haley, Uncle Dave, Aunt Erin, CJ, Kenzie, Grandmommy, and of course, Granddaddy. We started in the living room where I showed everyone how well I sit up. I also played a little with CJ's Rescue Heroes. Then we went up to Kasey's new room. It was really cool. I liked her poke-a-dot comforter and her sparkly pillow. I just loved all the colors. Then I helped Aunt Kati make a dessert for everyone.

Then we went down to the pool. Mommy and I got in the pool for a few minutes. Haley held me on the steps of the pool. Then Kasey held me for a few minutes. She walked me around in the pool and I guess she bounced me a little too much cause I lost my lunch, all over her. She handed me back to Mommy (who was laughing, by the way) as Kasey got out of the pool and got hosed off my Aunt Kati. We got out shortly after that cause it was a little chilly. Mommy wrapped me a big warm towel and then Grandmommy held me for a while.

Mommy got me changed into dry clothes and then Grandmommy held me while Mommy and Daddy ate. I got passed around a bit, I visited with almost everyone, Aunt Erin wasn't feeling great so she stayed away. I watched everyone playing football and really paid attention to how Uncle Dave and Uncle Mike toss the football.

I also spent a little time with Kenzie as Granddaddy and Mommy held us so we could see each other. Granddaddy told me I was such a great little boy, always so happy. We watched as CJ helped blow out Granddaddy's candles.

It was getting late so we had to say our goodbyes. I cried for a little while in the car on the way home but slept for most of the trip. Once we got home, it was a quick change into the my sleeper and off to dreamland. Today was a good day.
