July 4 - So today is Independence Day. I woke up a bit early today so since Daddy and the doggies slept on the couch Mommy brought me back to bed with her and we went back to sleep til 8:30am. Then Mommy got me and Apollo ready for the boardwalk. We hopped into the van and were down at the beach a little after 9am before it got really hot. I was so good for Mommy, much better than Apollo. He was acting like such a scaredy-dog. He took some coaxing but eventually he got used to walking close to all the people on the boardwalk. The three of us were only there for about 45 mins since it was getting hot pretty quick. So back to the house where Daddy was awake. Mommy and I hung out for a while, didn't do way too much. I mean I napped in the swing and chewed on my toe, you know, the norm.
In the afternoon Mommy, Daddy and I went over to Grandma's and Chachi's house. The five of us cooked out and Mommy and Grandma and I played with some of the many toys in the playroom. There was one really cool on with a big bear that made noise; I liked that one. And then Mommy and I played with one of those canisters that had the different size holes in the top to put the shapes into. Mommy would help me by putting the shape over the hole and then I would knock it in. And then Mommy make a cheeseburger with all the play food and it looked good enough to eat, so I tried!
As they ate I sat in my portable swing. I am big enough now that I can reach up and pull on the dog and cat and activate the music and lights all by myself. I started to get a bit fussy cause I didn't really get a full afternoon nap so Grandma patted my back until I fell asleep. Once I woke up and I ate and was changed I was pretty content. Everyone thought it would be a good time to go to Chachi. Well, as soon as I was handed to him I started to cry. I guess I still remember "angry duck". It was getting late so we headed home. I am still trying to get used to the other car seat and so I started to fuss again but Mommy sat next to me, held my hand, and sang to me the songs on the radio. That made me feel so much better. And she is so silly bouncing around. When we got home I took a really quick shower with Daddy and then was all tuckered out so headed to bed. Nighty-nite.
