Happy Birthday to ME!

Feb 5 - Finally the big day is here! All this prep work and every talking about this day for so long and it is finally here. MY birthday. I am one year old today. Mommy came and got me this morning as soon as I made the slightest peep. She had been up for hours already working on stuff for my party. She came in my room and said "Good morning, birthday boy." Then she dressed me and brought me out for breakfast.

She had gotten me a special breakfast the last time we were at the grocery store. It was pancakes, potatoes, and a berry mix. I really liked the pancakes. They were covered in sugar. I ate all the potatoes too. I also listened to my phone while I ate. Mommy said whatever made me happy because it was my day. After I ate I played a game with Mommy. She was busy on the couch finishing up the goodie bags. The game was hide and seek. I hide under Daddy's desk and when she looked up to check on me, I was gone. She called out for me and I poked my nose out from the side of the desk. Mommy just laughed and told me that it was a really good hiding spot.
Can you see me?
There I am!
Aunt Lynn got to the house first. She and Mommy went over any little things that still needed to be done. Aunt Lynn worked in the kitchen and hung out with me while Mommy hopped in the shower. Then Mommy made the red icing for the top of the cake while Aunt Lynn cleaned my highchair. They make a good team.

Next, Grandma Joanie came over. She brought a bunch of stuff to make for her pasta dish for the party. In all the commotion I really wanted Mommy to hold me and play with me but she was too busy. I started to get cranky because it was time for my nap. Mommy and Grandma and I went back to my room and changed me and set me down. I protested at first but they said I needed to rest and left. I cried a little more and then snuggled with my favorite blanket.

I woke up to the dogs barking. Ms. Heather, Mr. Josh, Mommy and Aunt Lynn had walked in the door and they got scared and barked. I cried out and Daddy came and got me. Everything was pretty much ready to go. Mommy put my Cat in the Hat shirt on and put me in the car seat in the van. Aunt Lynn kept me company while Mommy and Daddy loaded the last few things. Then Mommy got in the van and Daddy handed her the cake. She kept asking the cake not to fall over. We got to the community center and Daddy took the cake so Mommy could get out of the car. She disappeared into the community center and came back with lots of help. Everyone unloaded the car and we all walked in to my party room.

It was wonderful. Balloons and colors all over the place. Toys in the back and a banner of me on the wall. I already had gifts sitting on the table. This was going to be an awesome party. Noah and Ms. Andrea were already there. I started to play with them as Mommy, Ms. Heather, Aunt Lynn, and Grandma finished setting up.
More people showed up and the play area was packed with friends and family. We were having a great time. Then it was food time. I had some green ham, tater tots, cheese, and a bunch of crackers (I kept stealing them from people's plates but they didn't mind since I was the birthday boy). Daddy also gave me some fish sticks. I loved it all.

Then it was cake time. Mommy sat me in my highchair and Daddy and Mommy stood on each side of me. Mommy put a big number 1 on the top and Daddy lit it. Then they tried putting this huge silly hat on my head. Everyone started to sing Happy Birthday to me and I just starred at everyone. It was a little weird to be the center of attention. Mommy told me to make a wish and blew out the candle. Then Daddy started cutting the cake. He gave me the first piece. It was strawberry and covered in red frosting. I took a little taste of the red frosting and smeared it all over my face. Then Mommy gave me a small bite of the cake. I spit it out. I continued to play with it and smeared the icing all over my head. I was quite a mess but everyone seemed to like it. I took little pieces of my cake until I started to rub it in my eyes. I was done. Mommy took me to the bathroom to clean me up.

We came back to the party and people started to leave. Mommy opened a few of my presents and then handed out all of the goodie bags. I was still having a great time with the people that were left. The Harrington side of the family cleaned up the place in record time. And everyone said goodbye except for Grandma Joanie, Chachi, Aunt Lynn, Uncle Sean, Aunt Erin, and Aidan and Gavin. They stayed until the very end to walk out with us. We said our goodbyes and Grandma kissed me. Aunt Lynn, Daddy, Mommy and I got in the van and drove home. Aunt Lynn said goodnight and Daddy brought in all the stuff from the van as Mommy nursed me. Then we played on the floor and Mommy opened the rest of my gifts. I got some really awesome books. My library is really big now. One of my presents was a homemade pillow from Ms. Dana, Caylee's mom. They couldn't come to the party but sent their present with Ms. Andrea and Noah. The pillow is so soft and has Nicky embroidered on it along with a little grey elephant. It is great. And after all the excitement today it was finally time to go to bed. Mommy gave me my new pillow to sleep with and I went to sleep happy as can be. It was the best birthday I have ever had.
