James turns 1

Jan 29 - This morning Mommy and I had a visitor. Grandma came to see us. She had just come from the pool and brought eggs and cheese to make breakfast. She hadn't seen me for a couple of weeks so she hadn't seen how good of a walker I am now. I played with her a little and watched them make breakfast. It looked good but I didn't have any. They didn't offer. Then I rubbed my eyes and Mommy said that was good because I needed to take a nap to enjoy James' party later. I said goodbye to Grandma and Mommy put me in my crib with my Elmo remote. I played with it for over 30 mins before falling asleep.

When I woke up Grandma was gone and Mommy and I had to hurry to get ready. We left the house at 2pm, when the party was supposed to start. I guess we were fashionable late. Mommy got a little lost on the way to James' house. When we pulled in the driveway, James' grandma came out to help carry the present. Then Ms. Erin and Sam pulled up. We all went into the house and Mommy and I sat on the couch for a couple of minutes for me to get use to the new surroundings and people. Sam started to playing with James on the floor with some toys and that looked like fun so I joined them.

We all played with the activity table and James has the same racetrack I do. We were having a good time. Then I started to explore the house. The dining room is right next to the living room where we were playing and I watched people go in there so I wanted to know what was in there. There was a big table that I could walk under without hitting my head.

Then I spotted the kitchen. I liked the tile on the floor. Mommy came and put me back in the living room but I was not done exploring. I walked back to the kitchen as fast as I could. Then I went down the hallway and found Ms. Tara and Mr. Don's bedroom. Mommy picked me up and told me that we need to stay with the party. So I went back to James and Sam and played for a while. Mommy gave me crackers and puffs. I started to get antsy and wanted to nurse so Mommy and I went into James bedroom for a few minutes while James started to open presents. When we got back we were just in time to watch James open our present. James was more into the wrapping paper than the presents. Ms. Tara put a bow on his head. I walked over to them and she put a silver bow on my head too. Mommy said I looked pretty.

After all the presents it was cake time. Mommy held me as we all sang happy birthday to James. He seemed pretty unsure about his little cake. He didn't want to touch it and get his hand dirty at first. But after Ms. Tara fed him some he understood. Mommy said that she wanted to wait til next week for me to have my first cake so we passed on cupcakes. Sam, James, and I continued to play for a while. We ended up spilling puffs all over the floor and having a carpet picnic. It was almost 6pm when we said goodbye to everyone that was left and headed home.

I got to see Daddy and had dinner. Mommy gave me a bunch of turkey and cheese. She is trying to see if I am getting out of the baby food stage. I'm still working on it. We all played a little while longer until it was time for bed.
